Consider These 5 Trends Before Purchasing a Car in 2014

If you have decided you want to purchase a new car this year, there are several trends that you should be aware of in today’s market. Car companies are becoming more and more competitive as they leave behind a sales year of 15 million vehicles and head into 2014. Each company is going head-to-head in order to entice you to buy their vehicles, and they will try just about anything to grab both your attention and your money. Before you purchase your new car, consider some of these cool new trends that are emerging from today's auto world.

#1 New and Improved Technology

Although self-driving vehicles are still a little ways off, new technology is being placed in cars every day. In-car Technology is increasing at an alarming rate, and even though you may not be able to play with your phone in the backseat while your car drives for you, there is a lot of new safety equipment for your car. Some of the improvements you will see in these new vehicles is your car keeping you in lane, letting you know when you are about to hit something or someone, guiding you to stay on the road, parking itself, and sometimes assisting you in traffic by taking over for a little bit.

#2 Lighter and Safer Vehicles

With the upgrades to newly released vehicles, comes changes in how they are built. Most car companies are now using lighter materials to make their cars more fuel efficient. Although you may not notice the difference very much, your new car may be made out of aluminum, carbon fiber, or even high-strength steel. This lighter material allows cars to have better fuel economy and will ultimately save you money.

#3 Better Diesel Choices

Diesel vehicles have never really been the desire of most people, but things are changing. You want to find a car that has high fuel economy and a large range. This combination can be hard to find in the current market, but there are several companies that are beginning to offer better options. You can find a good deal on diesels ranging from Volkswagens to Porsche. Jeep, Mercedes, and many other big car manufacturers also now have diesels that are actually pretty decent!

#4 Get Great Deals Across the Pond

There are some great deals available across the UK when looking to purchase a new car, which we sometimes highlight here at Motor Heads. But what about over in The States? American auto companies have found that they can compete in the market at the low end. In 2014, residents of the US will be able to find amazing deals on cars like the Chevrolet Spark at the entry-level. With Ford and Chevy both delivering great gas mileage, and both offering the latest gadgets such as satellite radios, phone services, and more for an affordable price on name brand cars.

#5 Hybrids Are Everywhere

If you have not purchased a hybrid vehicle, you are missing out. These cars are available in just about every corner of the market both here and overseas. Even if a new hybrid is not exactly in your budget at the moment, you could always go with a used vehicle. There are many used hybrids which are just as reliable, and these are even more affordable. In fact, its my guess that you will soon see a lot more hybrids on the roads of the UK in the coming years.

Before you go looking for a new vehicle this year, keep an eye out for these new trends that will be popping up in 2014. Why? Because these trends could also play a factor in potentially lowering your already cheap car insurance. Car insurance providers like to see safer and improved technology on vehicles that will not only make their jobs easier, but save lives in the long-run.
