The older models will be taking up room on the showroom or forecourt and the sellers will want to shift them quickly so they have enough room for the newer versions that are due to come in. Older versions will be less in demand too, and this will always work in your favour. If you try to buy a hugely popular model the seller will not be as flexible as they know if you don’t buy it someone else will.

#4 Keep Your Cards to Your Chest

Don’t disclose your budget to the sales person. When they ask you how much you want to spend simply say some of the models you’re interested in or what type of vehicle you need and ask the seller to show you their very best deals.

#5 Start Low

When the time to negotiate arrives always start as low as you can without being rude. Make the figure reasonable though so they sales person sees that you are serious. The sales person will then come back with a counter offer and the pair of you can continue negotiating until you find a figure you’re both happy with.

#6 Walk Away

Don’t feel pressured into buying the same day. Once you’ve reach a point where the salesperson is unable to give you any more movement, inform the seller you’re interested but you need to go away and sleep on it. Who knows, the seller could drop the price one last time to encourage the sale, if not you have time to go away and do your sums before committing.
