The one they would go out and buy tomorrow if they had the cash in the bank. When it comes to luxury cars, it’s all down to instinct. You follow your heart and choose the car you love. So, we asked luxury car owners what it was that they were drawn to. From their answers we produced this list of criteria that you should look for in a luxury car.

#1 Style

For most petrolheads, a luxury car is all about the looks. It could be the curvy elegance of a Porsche. It could be the sharp, angular racing lines of a Lamborghini. Perhaps it’s the sophisticated statesmanship of a Bentley. When it comes to luxury cars, you’re paying for the status. You’re paying for the iconic style whether it’s on your driveway or on the road. The beauty of this is that it’s completely subjective and sparks great debate among motorists.

#2 Personality

Personality is similar to style but much more difficult to explain. Just like your favourite dog has a personality, so does you car. It starts with its styling. Is it cute and quirky like an Austin Healey? Or is it powerful and strong like a Mustang? As motorists, we often find ourselves drawn to cars that match our own personality. We identify with certain cars because of this. It could be a subconscious or conscious decision. Either way, it is the personality of our cars that draws us to them.

We asked Red Line Specialist Cars what their customers look for in a luxury car. They said nine times out of ten, they’re looking for power. Speed has always been at the heart of driving. Whether it’s racing or on the road, manufacturers are always trying to squeeze that extra power. The sound of a roaring engine and the speed and power of the car is highly prized in luxury motoring.

The exterior styling seemed to come up trumps with luxury car owners. However, there are still plenty who crave the luxury interior. As a driver, you spend most of the time behind the wheel. That’s where you want the luxury. Whether its leather trim or beautifully crafted finishing, it’s the interior that gives a car its class.

#5 Technology

There is nothing more luxurious than a car packed full of technology and gadgets. Taking a leaf out of James Bond’s book, car owners love a gadget or two. Luxury cars are really leading the way when it comes to technology. We are now seeing internet hotspots in high end vehicles. Luxury cars will connect with your smartphone, talk to you and feature voice recognition. It is these futuristic touches that really sets these cars apart.
